Come on, who does this? Who reads all day?
Back in the day before work overtook my life, I used to wake up in the morning, reach for my book and only get out of bed for drinks, food and the toilet. Oh, how I miss those days. Being engrossed in a book took me out of my every day life and into an adventure that I would never have lived in real life.
Crying like a baby
Fantasy lands would claim me as their own. I would become a part of the essence of the world which the author had created. Falling in love with the characters was an every day occurrence.
I remember one day when I was reading in bed one of the characters died unexpectedly. You should have seen the snot and tears that ran out of me. I'm not talking casual stuff here, I'm talking wailing. I'm talking sobbing so hard that it started to hurt. Has that ever happened to you? Or is it just me?
What do you mean they're not real?
Since becoming an author full time, I'm gutted to say that I don't get nowhere near as much time to read. I miss it. The excitement of knowing that your book is waiting for you to finish your work day. That the characters are your personal friends. That the most perfect boyfriend actually exists (Okay, so it may only be in a book, but hey, he exists!)
Yes, I'm doing it!
This week I've finished Gemini, so it's time to celebrate! For the first time since writing full novels, I'm going to celebrate by giving myself a whole day to read. This weekend, I will dedicate my Sunday to reading. It doesn't matter where I sit as long as I have a book in my hand.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what book I should spend obscene amounts of time reading?
