It's amazing what can happen with a book. If you look at the series Game of Thrones, it has become a worldwide phenomenon. I love the television series. I started to watch it when it first came out, but then lost track. Luckily, Sky replayed season 1-4 in one go so everyone could catch up before number five came out.
Epic fantasy is not something I usually read, so I've not read the books. I love how they've adapted it onto screen though. I believe that a lot more people are reading the books since the television series came out.
I would love one of my books to be made into a film or television show. It's the next step in the dream of my creative writing journey. But what makes something a hit?
Harry Potter and Twilight were very succesful as book series'. They were then made into films, which propelled them even further. I read Twilight before the films came out and much prefered the books. I've only read Harry Potter and the philosophers stone. There isn't a reason that I've not read more. I just haven't got round to it.
The Green Mile by Stephen King. That is one book that I really enjoyed. Luckily, when the film came out, I liked it as much as the book. I was worried that I wouldn't because I had such a good time reading the book. It was a long book and film though!
What book to film adaptions did you enjoy? Are there any that shouldn't have been done?
