Isn't it funny when you think that a book or film is going to go one way, but then, it completely surprises you?
That's exactly what happened as I came to the end of writing Cancer's book. Looking back on it, I wondered how the story had unfolded. You see, I'm the type of writer that just let's the words flow from me. I have no control over them. So, as Cancer struggles with new love, I thought it would go smoothly. Of course, we're talking about the Zodiac's here. Their enemy is never far behind when they're trying to unite with their twin flame soulmate. However, this is one of those books that did take me by surprise. Usually, I may know the direction or if there's a plot twist coming but I didn't with this one.
Cancer is a water sign. It's the sign of home and family. When our protaganist is faced with the wrath of her enemy, Nick, all she wants to do is ignore him and protect her family. That can't happen in their world. Turning into water isn't going to save her soulmate.
Writing the water signs always proves to be, on one hand easier, but on the other, harder. They're ruled by their emotions, so I have no choice but to write from mine. Obviously, I have to research all the other signs because I'm only one of them. But it's interesting to see how Cancer, the character, takes over. I hope that there's some part of my psyche that absorbs my research and transforms my characters into as true a version of their sign as possible from my limited perception.
It's an interesting experience of writing and I'm loving every moment of it. Next up, Leo! He's one of my favourite characters and there's another shock in store for his fans.
Cancer will be released on the 28th December 2015!
